Falling Stars (title will be updated)
Let's Meet the Characters Concept Art Related ArtFor years their Gods remianed silent. For ages they chose to be deaf to the pleas of the broken playthings they cultivated, leaving them to moarn and rebuild without their guidance. Until one day, when their creations were on the brink of losing their faith in The Stars completely, they filled the sky with a brilliant light and finally spoke. And in their glory they offered onto them a soultion.
A debt that was to be paid by their transgressors...
Falling Stars (or "Mutation Station" as my boyfriend dubbed it) is a story set in the mid 2000s where we follow a young girl named Elliot, the struggles that come with being a chosen hero battling with depression, and the danger that comes with it. Along the way she'll meet friends and foes alike while fighting to appease a higer power and bring in a new era of peace.
Falling Stars is...a complicated project that doesn't get as much attention compared to my other story ideas. I've actually been working on this thing since I was 12 and had no idea how to write a good story or likeable characters or...anything really. Which is why all of my earlier drafts were just a melting pot of edgy teenage angst, stolen ideas from various sources, and plagiarism.
So much plagiarism. And cringe, there was a lot of that too.
But hey, we all gotta start somewhere, right?
Many years later and I've become older, wiser, and more experienced in all the things I lacked as a teenager. Falling Stars has been re-worked to hell and back both in its story and its cast of characters. It started off full of monsters and magic, lost those elements in an effort to be more realistic and grounded, and then regained the monsters and magic in a way I could make it work. There's still a lot of gaps and a plot hole or two but at least I'm having an easier time figuring it out and building the lore this world runs on.
Content Warning
Falling Stars will deal with themes of existentialism, body horror, psychological horror, ableism, and racism (it's fantasy racism, but it's racism nonetheless). Mental health, depression, and mentions of suicide/wanting to die in general will also be discussed throughout the story as well as several dipictions of self harm. I won't be dressing these topics up with flowery, social media friendly, language and waving them away the second they come up so if any of this bothers you I reccomend skipping this project.
