The Celestial Warriors

A group of Beast people who banded together to help fight the war against the Star Gazers of old during a time many historians have called "The Age of Envy". Their deeds and heroics have forever immortalized them in the heavens and in the hearts and minds of all Beast kind (even some Voyagers). On clear nights, you can see their spirits in the sky, looking down on their kin in the form of a brilliant constellation. The legend of the Warriors is taught to every Beast child and their memories are celebrated with several festivals throughout the year.

Trust in The Stars has been declining for ages now so many Beast folk have started to treat The Generals as holy figures instead, giving them the praise they once held for their deep space gods. Throughout the years there have been stories that claim the Generals have appeared in the dreams of their descendants or to those who are deemed worthy of their wisdom, such individuals are often treated as prophets and given high status in their community.

General Drake

The head of the Celestial Warriors, Drake was a formidable leader and terrifying foe against the Star Gazers who threatened the lives of his brethren. He was powerful on the battle field, inspiring to Beasts and Voyagers alike, and loyal to all who aided the war and served under him. It was him who set out to save the Beast folk from elimination and him who asked The Stars to immortalize his allies for their selfless deeds when the dust settled. Due to his hefty life span Drake outlived all of his fellow generals and friends before, eventually, joining them many years later and finally earning his place in the heavens as a cluster of stars that continue to watch over the Beast folk. His descendants still roam the earth, although they aren’t nearly as powerful as their eldest ancestor.

His memory is honored with a week-long festival in the cold season that gives thanks to his sacrifices and his victory over the Star Gazers.

General Sirius

The great dog of the heavens and one of the famed generals of the Celestial Warriors. Sirius was not as physically skilled as their comrades, and thus, acted as a spy for the Beast Folk throughout the war, swiftly moving in the shadows and delivering vital information to Drake and the other generals. At one point during battle it was discovered that Sirius was quite observant and had a cunning mind, promoting him as the lead strategist throughout their struggles with the Star Gazers. Defending their people from death was a team effort but Sirius’ efforts were praised enough for them to be seen as the second in command. Their bravery earned them a place in the heavens as the brightest star in the night sky (Polaris), so that they could continue to guide the Beast Folk for years to come.

His descendants still roam the earth as both the Canis and Lupus aligned.

General Phoenix

The great fire bird of the heavens and one of the famed generals of the Celestial Warriors. Phoenix used their harsh flames and large wings to keep the Star Gazer’s forces at bay and their magical tears to heal the severe injuries of their comrades. It was rumored that he could not be killed, no matter how many attempts on his life were made. Their bravery earned them a place in the heavens as a large cluster of stars that watch over the Beast folk, but some say that Phoenix was reincarnated as the very sun that lights the world and gives them warmth. Their memory is honored with a festival in the middle of summer that gives thanks to the sun and celebrates rejuvenation.

His descendants still roam the earth as the Aquila aligned, though they don't have his mastery over fire or the ability to heal wounds with their tears.

General Monoceros

The great unicorn of the heavens and one of the famed generals of the Celestial Warriors. Monoceros used the magic flowing from her horn and hooves to purify the poisoned lands and waters tainted by the Star Gazers, making it possible for her people to continue farming, fishing, and drinking. Her magic also cured many illnesses that general Phoenix couldn’t heal with their tears alone. Their bravery and compassion earned them a place in the heavens as a large cluster of stars that watch over the Beast folk. Her memory is honored with a festival in the spring to celebrate fertility and new beginnings.

Her descendants still roam the earth as the Equuleus aligned, though they lack the magic that ran through her body. There is a very rare chance for an Equuleus to be born with a horn, although it's only for show and holds no magical properties.
